TRIAL COURT STAFF ATTORNEY

(OPS-funded position)



Description of Work:

This is professional and highly responsible work conducting legal research and writing activities at the circuit court level.  The work involves considerable interpretation and judgment in the analysis of legal issues in the areas of assignment, which includes primarily civil and civil appeals, but may also include criminal, postconviction, and administrative law. Assignments may also involve administrative issues from the Chief Judge. Contacts are primarily with judges, staff attorneys, and other court personnel.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Senior Supervising Staff Attorney.  Assignments are made by the Court Counsel or the Senior Supervising Staff Attorney, either orally or in writing. Work is reviewed through observation of results obtained, conferences, and periodic reports.  All new appointments are for two years with a possibility of a continuing appointment thereafter.

 

Minimum Training and Experience Required:

Graduation from an accredited law school and membership in The Florida Bar.  Applicants must be computer literate and able to do their own word processing.

Salary:

Florida Bar Member - $23.52 Hourly – NO BENEFITS (20 HOURS PER WEEK)
