TRIAL COURT STAFF ATTORNEY

(State Funded OPS)

OPS 025

Description of Work:

This is professional and highly responsible work conducting legal research activities for the judges assigned to the county or circuit civil division.  The work involves considerable interpretation and judgment in the analysis of legal issues in the areas of assignment.  The Staff Attorney assigned to the CCMP will work closely with judges, judicial assistants, court personnel such as the case managers for the CCMP, as well as private attorneys and their staff.

The Staff Attorney is directly supervised by the Senior Staff Attorney. Work assignments are under the general supervision of the Senior Staff Attorney; individual judges or the Program Coordinator for the CCMP may also assign tasks to the Staff Attorney.  Assignments may be orally or in writing. The Staff Attorney must also independently evaluate pending matters and take appropriate action to ensure they are timely addressed.  Work is reviewed through observation of results obtained, conferences and periodic reports or evaluations. 

Minimum Training and Experience Required:

Graduation from an accredited law school and membership in The Florida Bar.  Applicants must be computer literate and able to do their own word processing.

Position is for one year and may be extended based on funding.

Salary:

Florida Bar Member within one year - $23.52 Hourly – State Benefits available,

40 hours per week

State Pay Grade 50
