LAW CLERK/PARALEGAL

Description
of Work: The law clerk/paralegal position involves responsible
paraprofessional work handling advanced case management of civil matters for circuit
and county judges. This position reviews
a heavy volume of court records for compliance with Florida Supreme Court
directives, Florida Civil Rules of Procedure, and local procedures. The law clerk/paralegal must exercise
discretion in handling court matters and
emphasis is placed on diplomacy, tact, and poise. Duties include maintenance of routine reports,
preparation of paperwork for the assigned judges, and may require attendance at
court hearings. This position assists with various administrative functions in
support of civil circuit and county judges and the Program Coordinator. This position requires the skilled operation
of word processing and familiarity with automated office equipment. This position works closely with judges,
judicial assistants, and other court personnel, as well as private attorneys
and their staff. This position may require contact with public through
telephonic or email communication. This position
is directly supervised by the Program Coordinator for the Civil Case Management
Project; Individual judges or staff attorneys assigned to the CCMP may also
assign tasks. Travel throughout the
circuit may be required.
Minimum
Training and Experience Required: Completion of a paralegal degree or
certification program; or Graduation from a school of law (bar passage not
required); or A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and
enrolled at an accredited school of law as 2L or 3L student.
Applicants must be computer
literate. Applicants must be able to do
their own word processing and use Microsoft Suite programs.

Salary: $21.27 to $23.40 Hourly (based on
experience), State Pay Grade 47;
State
Benefits (medical, vision, dental) optional;

to 40 hours per week; Position is funded through June 30, 2022, and
may be
extended based on availability of funding.
