ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 2003-037 PA/PI-CIR
RE: DNA TESTING
Whereas, section 943.325, Florida Statutes, requires persons convicted of certain offenses to have DNA testing, and
Whereas, Chapter 2003-18, Laws of Florida, amended section 943.325, Florida Statutes, to ensure that all defendants are tested as required by law,
IT IS ORDERED:
1. The Sheriff of Pasco County and the Sheriff of Pinellas
County shall arrange for DNA testing on those persons ordered by the court or
required by law have a DNA test.
2. In order to ensure that defendants who are convicted of offenses which require DNA testing but who are to be released from custody have the test done prior to being released, the Sheriff shall maintain a supply of DNA test materials in the courthouse so that the test can be performed prior to or at the time of sentencing.
3. A defendant who is ordered by the court or required by law to have a DNA test may not be released from custody until the DNA testing has been performed.
Administrative Order PA-CIR 00-7 hereby is rescinded.
